The Kalliopi Koufa Foundation on the Promotion of International Law and Human Rights organizes the 6th session of the Thessaloniki Summer Courses on International Law and Human Rights from 24 June to 3 July 2020 in Thessaloniki, Greece, on the topic of “Social Rights in International Law: From Theory to Practice”. The programme is open to advanced law students, researchers and practitioners.
The 2020 course will introduce the subject of social rights in international law and examine social rights as human rights, their protection regime at the universal and regional levels as well as crucial topics, such as their justiciability, their extraterritorial applicability, social rights protection for vulnerable groups, as well as social rights in the context of investment or armed conflict. The session consists of 10-day intensive, introductory and specialized, courses on the topic as well as lectures, roundtables and seminars involving academics, experts and practitioners.
The Faculty of the 2020 session includes, among others: Manfred Nowak (Vienna, Venice Global Campus on Human Rights), Fons Coomans (Maastricht/TBC), Christina Binder (Bundeswehr University, Munich), Ralph Wilde (UCL), Eric de Brabandere (Leiden), Zdzislaw Kedzia (UN Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights), Karin Lukas (European Committee of Social Rights), Amaya Úbeda de Torres (Council of Europe/TBC), Petros Stangos (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, European Committee of Social Rights), Christina Deliyianni-Dimitrakou (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki), Aristoteles Constantinides (University of Cyprus), and seminars from Vassilis Pergantis and Anna-Maria Konsta (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki), as well as from Solon Solomon (Brunel).
